That's what she put me on, too, Mickey. I think arthritis is one of those things that is in the family. My mum suffers badly from it, as did my gran.

I reckon you're right Alfs, gout was the worst pain I'd ever had, put up with it for about 10 years then the doc put me on Allopurinol and I've never had it since but it hasn't stopped me getting arthritis in my fingers, wrist and knee.

Gout is fucking painful but I found some herbal pills that cleared it up overnight.
My GP has since put me on anti-arthritis pills as if you get gout you're very likely to be susceptible to arthritis. Isn't getting old fun?!
MIM's story made me shudder!

My old man gets gout, and it started when he was about ten years older than I am now.
Doesn't sound like sometning to look forward to.
This aging business has to stop. Top priority after stopping the still worse dying business.

Three things for physical pain I can think of.
One similar to Alfs. Stacked it on the way home from a night out and heard and felt a pop. Shoulder was drooped and I couldnāt lift my arm - nothing hurt at the time, but I was bit pissed (and probably in shock).
Ended up in Queens in Romford where they did an x-ray - important to note from above my shoulder - and said it was dislocated, so they went to put it back in.
The reason itās important to note that they did it from above is because if theyād done it front on, as they should have, they would have seen that my collar bone was also broken, and then when they put my shoulder back in, part of that break wouldnāt have ripped through a tendon of my shoulder and jutted out at some hideous angle.
And because Iād had beer, they couldnāt give me an anaesthetic before the surgery to put it all back together for about 6 hours. Itās fair to say they were a fairly unpleasant 6 hours.
Another one was when also joining club kidney stones. I thought that was painful enough in itself, but mine got stuck and needed an op to get it out (they go on via your knob). Had to have a stent inserted in my bladder to stop things going into spasm and contracting. Unfortunately I was one in around two thousand people whose body reject it. So imagine trying to piss out a tube thatās stuck in your bladder every few minutes. Was absolute agony. And because Iād been out when they first put it in, couldnāt be under anaesthetic when they decided to take it outā¦.
Finally, right now isnāt great - got a bowel op tomorrow, and have had to take some strong laxatives to clear everything out. The cramps Iām currently going through are horrific.

had a burst ear drum too Rio.
remember being around 14 and being in the worst agony of my life, felt like someone had rammed a pool queue in my ear and all the way down to my throat. i thought i was going to pass out as my mum got me to the docs in the middle of the night, only for the pain to suddenly stop halfway there.
doc told me i had a severe acute ear infection, and that pain was the build up of pressure. the ear drum perforating released that pressure and remedied it. would've jammed a bastard needle in there if i knew that an hour earlier.

You know how boats have steps that go down from one end of a rectangular hole in the deck?
I was on a boat party in the late 90's, pilled up and approached the rectangular hole from what i thought was the right end.
So rather stepping down onto the first step, coming from the wrong end, my right foot hit about the 6th step down, ankle all the way over and out. That smarted.

I feel for you stoat - there is nothing worse than losing a child and it never goes. You sometimes think it has a bit but it is always lurking there to jump you by seemingly unconnected things.
My partner's daughter died 8 years ago when she was 14 and it still hurts.

Heart goes out to those that have lost loved ones too young.
When I played at Upton Park in one of the fan days, I sprained the muscle around my heart, I played on rest of the day despite the pain as you would. Next day it was worse, ended up going to casualty at midnight it was so bad, have cracked ribs which is bad and lingers longer, but the pain was worse. Still not as severe as a dislocated shoulder, and there's no position you can get into to that's more comfortable or calming.

I've probably broken ribs (unless the rib is so badly broken that it threatens to puncture a lung, they don't X-ray, because the treatment for cracked and badly bruised ribs is the same, so there's no point in taking an X-ray which is not without its own risks).
Very painful if you try and do stuff, but not if you breathe shallowly and move slowly. Which is exactly what you need to do for them to get better. The marvels of evolution.

I remember a post on here years and years ago.
Someone was playing football, and somehow dislocated their leg, and had to have it popped back in.
Medic came on and did it, but the player screamed out in agony.
What happened was when the leg was popped back in, one of his bollocks got caught in between and was stuck between his leg and his pelvis.
Probably didn't happen, but fucking hell.

Same Pain as Millington and Stoat - its a different kind of pain and one that doesn't sting but certainly lingers and never leaves you. My heart goes out to you both, in this case, I know exactly how you feel. Probably why I have my meltdown moments.
On a "lighter" note, I was stabbed in the skull and had a punctured lung (through back) from a Pedang - a thick stick that had been fashioned into a sword - didnt feel it at all, nothing, i guess adrenalin stops that?
but had a verucca frozen off when i was 14, they sprayed something on it that sends it frozen and it drops off - now that fucking hurt.
